Zaragoza City Council is the public, democratic and constitutional institution of the City that promotes its improvement and stands close to the citizens. The Council manages the environment of the city and, through different actions, aims to improve its quality. Since 1998, when Horizon Strategic Plan 1998 - 2010 was approved and more recently through the Strategic Framework 2020, Zaragoza has adopted a far-sighted approach in its policies.
Moreover, Zaragoza is a member of numerous European Initiatives, it signed the Covenant of Mayors in 2011 and in 2012 was approved its Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP). It is also one of the 20 signatories cities of the Green Digital Charter and is a full member of the EUROCITIES initiative. Zaragoza is part of non-demonstrator cities in Civitas and a member of the “International Council for Local Environmental Initiative” (ICLEI).
Zaragoza City Council has more than 20 years of strategic planning experience that develops through Ebrópolis, an association they lead and whose founding partners are also the Government of Aragon, the Diputación de Zaragoza, companies, neighbourhood, financial entities and the University of Zaragoza.
Zaragoza City Council will contribute to the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) service model, particularly relevant to the concept of service Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for urban services related to the Living Labs. They will lead the national UAM development and contribute to regulatory and legislative acts and standardisation through close collaboration with national and European regulators and implementors, also by being involved in collaborative activities of the UAM programme under EIP-SCC. They are in charge of the demonstrators’ design; implementation; validation and evaluation; social acceptance and regulatory issues; risk assessment; project results utilisation to implement sustainable business models within the stakeholders; research and market adoption.
