San Raffaele Hospital (Ospedale San Raffaele) is one of the leading private scientific research institutes in Italy, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health as a Research Hospital (IRCCS). It comprises both clinical and research activities. Ospedale San Raffaele integrates its research with the education and training activities conducted within Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR), and provides specialised post-graduate courses in various medical and research fields. OSR and UniSR are completed by Centro San Raffaele Foundation (FCSR). Together they compose the San Raffaele Scientific Institute (SRSI), which hosts all the clinical, teaching and research activities in a large infrastructural compound. SRSI is also part of a bigger health-private group, the largest in Italy, and one of the largest in Europe: San Donato Group (GSD).

Ospedale San Raffaele has among its significant assets a specific research unit oriented to Information Technology applications in the health domain. Today, the Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing Research Centre of Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan (Italy), whose mission is to design, develop and demonstrate the ethical, scientific, economic and technological feasibility of innovative personalised services aiming at promoting well-being and informed choices in daily life. The centre aims at lowering the invisible cultural, organisational, economic and environmental barriers that hamper stakeholders’ efforts towards healthier, greener and fairer behaviours in everyday life, both for individuals, businesses and social actors.

Role in FF2020

San Raffaele Hospital leads Work Package 6 and is responsible for preparing and conducting living lab demonstrations in Milan, Italy.
